Avesh Khan, who plays for Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League (IPL), ripped through the DY Patil A batting line-up to score an emphatic victory in their first game of the 16th DY Patil Stadium.
The right-arm seamer from Indore picked up three wickets in the match and gave away 22 runs in his spell. His fellow teammate Atit Sheth gave him the much-needed assistance from the other end and scalped two wickets by giving away 29 runs. Due to their amazing bowling effort, the DY Patil A side could only manage to muster 121 on the board after 20 overs.
The Indian Oil side did not get any difficulties in chasing that target with 37 balls to spare. A swashbuckling knock of 71 by Abhishek Sharma dashed all the hopes of DY Patil’s side and snatched the game right from their hands. His batting partner Suved Parker also played an inning of 31 runs to take his team towards the finishing line.
Sharma’s knock came off just 33 deliveries, including two fours and eight maximums. On the other hand, the only positive aspect of the DY Patil team was Shubham Ranjane. Ranjane was the only reason why DY Patil could get to 121. He played a matured knock of 51 runs off 36 balls, which included five fours and one six.
But his efforts went in vain as his team lost the match by eight wickets.
Meanwhile, in another game played earlier in the day, Reliance 1 registered a big win over the Indian Navy in a Group C game. Interestingly, Hardik Pandya who has been included in the squad was included in the playing in the team’s opening encounter.
Vishnu Solanki and Anmolpreet Singh played amazing knocks with the bat to help their side post a gigantic total of 188 for the loss of five wickets in their quota of 20 overs. Solanki made 87 off just 49 deliveries, including seven fours and five sixes while Anmolpreet scored 53 off 33 balls with the help of five fours and one maximum.
In reply, the Indian Navy was bowled out for just 130 because of Digvijay Deshmukh’s match-winning spell of three for 12.
There are no games scheduled for Wednesday, 26 February. The tournament resumes on Thursday.
