Former Pakistan cricketer and the current chief selector of PCB Shahid Afridi is not likely to continue as a chief selector and will look for his foundation work as he stated this numerous times . According to the sources, Former Pakistani star cricketer Shoaib Akhtar is likely to replace Afridi to become the next chief selector of PCB.

Shoaib have always remained in limelight because of his criticizing behaviour and controversial statements. Many times he has criticized PCB for it’s decisions and working strategies. Usually, Shoaib blames the selection process of PCB and says that the selection is made on the basis of favouritism, rather than the basis of merit and all the way he is against this.

According to Akhtar, the selection of the board persons should be done amongst the foreign players rather than the home players. As, this might decline favouritism and there will be a fair selection for the players on the basis of their merit and performances. In his opinion former Pakistani players can play a role of support staff instead of being directly involved in the board and coaching staff.

PCB President Najam Sethi has extended his support towards ex Pakistani players to provide them some kind of job on managerial aspect.

Due to this speculation,  Shoaib Akhtar can become the next chief selector of PCB.

As Sethi also believes and states that home players can play a better role in management and the coaching sector should be handled by the foreign players as they focuses more on the echo of the team rather than favoritism.

Pakistan cricket has outstanding history of lifting ICC event under foreign coach Mickey Arthur as Men in Green successfully won Champions Trophy in 2017.

The credit for astounding victory should be given to skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed who successfully marched his troops throughout the tournament.
