Amazon Warriors showed defeat face to St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the Carribean Premier League on Friday. Gudakesh Motie emerged as the match-turner for the Warriors. The star performer took a career-best 4 for 17 which was noted as his stellar performance in the league. By potentializing his ability to bowl, he has come up improved and better.
The left-arm spinner was the pick of the bowlers for the Amazon Warriors as he dismissed Evin Lewis, Corbin Bosch, Ambati Rayudu, and Kofi James to derail the Patriots’ chase. The Patriots were chasing a target of 197 after the Amazon Warriors were bowled out for 196.
Despite an early fall of Andre Fletcher and Joshua Da Silva, Lewis steadied the boat with Ambati Rayudu and put on 58 runs for the third wicket. Their inning was about to get the flow but Motie’s introduction in the seventh over changed the course of the game.
He dismissed Lewis for 48 and Rayudu for 32 to put the Patriots on the back foot. After the nasty downfall of 4 Lewis and Rayudu, no other batter from their side could rebuild the innings and eventually succumbed at a minimal 132 in just 16.5 overs.
Motie cocked up Lewis-Rayudu’s rebound as their team were all out 65 runs prior to the Warrior’s target.
The Patriots eventually folded early, with Motie finishing with his career-best figures. Shai Hope top-scored for the Amazon Warriors with 54, while Saim Ayub scored 31.
On the other hand, Shemron Hetmeyer and Keemo Paul also chipped in with 20s. The win was the Amazon Warriors’ first of the season and they will be hoping to build on it in their next match against the Barbados Tridents.
The Patriots, on the other hand, will be disappointed with their performance and they will need to make some changes if they want to get back to winning ways. Motie’s performance was a major factor in the Amazon Warriors’ win.
He bowled with great control and accuracy, and he was able to extract good turn from the surface. He is a talented bowler and he will be a key player for the Amazon Warriors this season. The Patriots will need to find a way to get their batting order firing if they want to be successful in this tournament.
They have some talented batsmen in their line-up, but they need to start performing consistently.
