Charles Jordan Alewa Amini, commonly known as CJ Amini, is a cricket player from Papua New Guinea. He was born on April 14, 1992. CJ Amini is the brother of Chris Amini and the son of Kune Amini, both of whom served as PNG representatives.

Playing Cricket Career

In the ICC East Asia-Pacific Under-15 Cricket 8s in 2006–2007, Charles successfully led Papua New Guinea to victory.

CJ Amini participated in the 2008 Under-19 Cricket World Cup in Malaysia with the team, and in the 2010 Under-19 Cricket World Cup qualifiers in New Zealand, CJ Amini took eight wickets. In the month of November of the year 2013, Amini played Twenty 20 cricket for Papua New Guinea.

For the 2013–14 Big Bash League season, CJ Amini signed a rookie deal with the Sydney Sixers in the month of December of the year 2013.

In the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers at Pukekura Park, New Plymouth, in the month of January of the year 2014, Uganda lost 10 for 52 and was eventually all out for 105 in 35.5 overs after Charles Jordan Alewa Amini dismissed the top five batsmen and finished with career-best figures of 6 for 19 in 10 overs.

On November 8, of the year 2014, in Australia against Hong Kong, Charles Jordan Alewa Amini played in his first One Day International (ODI) for Papua New Guinea. On July 15, of the year 2015, Charles Jordan Alewa Amini played his first Twenty 20 International (T20I) match for Papua New Guinea against Ireland in the 2015 ICC World Twenty 20 Qualifier competition.

Amini grabbed 4 wickets for 27 runs in the 4,000th One Day International (ODI), which was contested against Hong Kong in the 9th/10th place playoff for the 2018 Cricket World Cup Qualifier. Charles Jordan Alewa Amini was named player of the match after scoring 21 runs in Papua New Guinea’s inning. Prior to losing their One Day International (ODI) status, this was also Papua New Guinea’s last One Day International (ODI).

Charles Jordan Alewa Amini was selected as the Papua New Guinea team’s vice-captain for Group A of the 2018-19 ICC World Twenty 20 East Asia-Pacific Qualifier competition in August 2018. Charles Jordan Alewa Amini was selected as the Papua New Guinea team’s vice-captain in the month of March of the year 2019 for the Regional Finals of the 2018-19 ICC World Twenty 20 East Asia-Pacific Qualifier competition. The very next following month, Charles Jordan Alewa Amini was named vice-captain of the Papua New Guinea side competing in the 2019 ICC World Cricket League Division Two match in Namibia. Charles Jordan Alewa Amini was chosen to play for the Papua New Guinea cricket team in the men’s competition at the 2019 Pacific Games in the month of June of the year 2019. Charles Jordan Alewa Amini was selected to lead Papua New Guinea’s team in the 2019 ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier match in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the month of September of the year 2019. Amini was selected for the Papua New Guinea team to compete in the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in the month of August of the year 2021.

Charles Jordan Alewa Amini was included in the Papua New Guinea team for the 2023 Cricket World Cup Qualifier Play-off in the month of March of the year 2023.
