Former Australian speedster, Brett Lee lauded CSK skipper MS Dhoni for trusting his playing XI and sticking to them even when the team are enduring a rough patch.
“The great thing about MS Dhoni is he believes his players, commits to the eleven that are there. He also backs the 13-14 that are there if there’s an injury. It’s the XI he believes in, commits to the team. They played so well and as they say, the lions will sleep pretty well tonight,” Brett Lee said.
After suffering three consecutive losses, Chennai Super Kings have bounced back in the tournament with a 10-wicket victory over Kings XI Punjab on Sunday. Shane Watson made headlines as he played a sensational knock of 83 runs off 53deliveries. Prior to that innings, the Australian batsman had only scored 52 runs in the first four games. Brett Lee spoke highly of Shane Watson and praised the CSK skipper for trusting the latter even after enduring a poor run with the bat in the first four games.
“Hats off to MSD for providing Watson with that opportunity and back his teammate. Watto came out and totally dominated it. The way he went down the line and didn’t go across the line; the last few games he went across the line. When he is on form, he can do it but Shane Watson, tonight, was on fire,” Lee further added.
Chennai Super Kings have so far played 5 matches in the tournament, claiming three wins. They are scheduled to play against Kolkata Knight Riders in their next game on Wednesday.
