Ettore Ewen, popularly known by his in-ring name Big E, is an American professional wrestler, who is currently working with World Wrestling Entertainment for SmackDown brand. Ewen is the current Smackdown Tag Team Champion with Xavier Woods.
Big E is a member of one of the most entertaining factions in sports entertainment i.e., The New Day with Xavier Woods and current WWE Champion Kofi Kingston. The New Day still holds the record for the longest tag team championship reign in WWE history at 483 days. Big E has been individually recognized as top heavyweight lifter as well as a renowned professional wrestler.
Ewen has held many wrestling titles from his journey with NXT to WWE’s main roster. He won NXT Championship once, Intercontinental Championship once, Raw Tag Team Championship twice with Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods, SmackDown Championship four times with The New Day members and even bagged WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship Tournament in 2018.
In 2015 and 2016, The New Day consecutively bagged an award for Tag Team of the Year.
Big E Early Life
Ettore Ewen was born on March 1, 1986, in Tampa, Florida. Ewen was fond of sports since his childhood hence he joined Wharton High School in Tampa, and bagged numerous athletic honors, including a state championship in high school wrestling. Alongside wrestling, Big E was also involved in football as a defensive lineman for the Iowa Hawkeyes at the University of Iowa.
After the completion of graduation in Bachelor of Arts, Big E started to build his career into powerlifting and later competed at 2010 United States Open Championships at Nova Southeastern University in Davie, Florida. He broke all four Florida state raw powerlifting records in the 275-pound class. Ewen also won the 2011 USAPL Raw Nationals in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

Big E resides in Tampa, Florida, United States. He is the son of Jamaican and Montserratian immigrants Eltore and Margaret Ewen. Big E hasn’t married yet however he was rumored to be having an affair with a model, Celeste, but there is no confirmation yet.
Big E Professional Life
Big E began his wrestling career from the time he was pursuing his graduation. He participated in high school wrestling where he won a state championship to develop grounds for his professional wrestling career in the future. He was also honored as Hillsborough County’s “Ironman of the Year”.
In later years, Ewen decided to push his career in powerlifting. He participated in 2010 United States Open Championships at Nova Southeastern University in Davie, Florida, where he broke all four Florida state raw powerlifting records in the 275-pound class.
Ewen joined hands with WWE in 2009 where he was assigned to its developmental wrestling organization Florida Championship Wrestling under the ring name Big E Langston. During his tenure in FCW, he won Florida Tag Team Championship with Calvin Raines.
Langston made his NXT debut in 2012 and came into limelight due to his “count to 5” strategy on his opponents. He used to ask referees to count until 5. Langston started his feud with Seth Rollins and defeated him in a No Disqualification match to win NXT Championship.
With his overall performance in the NXT, WWE pushed his career further by making his debut on WWE’s main roster. Big E wrestled his first match against Daniel Bryan on Raw. Langston quickly turned his attention towards Intercontinental title and started his feud with Curtis Axel. Big E defeated Axel to win the title, however he later the title to Bad News Barrett after several successful title defense.
The year 2014 united Big E, Xavier Woods, and Kofi Kingston to form a fresh faction in the WWE named ad ‘The New Day’. The New Day made their in-ring debut on SmackDown in a winning effort against Titus O’Neil, Heath Slater, and Curtis Axel. The New Day also got an opportunity to headline Wrestlemania 31 for the WWE Tag Team Championship, however, they failed to bag the title at The Grandest Stage of them all. They bagged the title at Extreme Rules from Tyson Kidd and Cesaro. The New Day faction is six-time tag team champions, having won the WWE (Raw) Tag Team Championship twice holding a record of the longest male tag team title reign in WWE history at 483 days. On the other side, The New Day won SmackDown Tag Team Championship four times (current champion). The New Day involved in several feuds with The Usos, The Bar (Sheamus & Cesaro), League of Nations, Bludgeon Brothers, Dudley Boyz, Gallows & Anderson and many more.
In 2019, Big E helped Kofi Kingston to earn a chance to battle for WWE Championship at Wrestlemania 35. WWE Chairman Vince McMahon gave Kofi a championship shot at Wrestlemania after Big E and Xavier Woods defeated Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson, Shinsuke Nakamura and Rusev, The Bar, The Usos, and Daniel Bryan and Erick Rowan in a tag team gauntlet match.
Apart from being a talented professional wrestler, Ewen showed his acting talent by working in WWE program like Total Divas and even worked in an animated television web series Lazor Wulf as Cannon Wulf. Big E is also a playable character in the latest edition of WWE 2K19 video game.
