BCCI Media Rights: World Richest Cricket Board to sell TV and Digital Media Rights separately soon
The Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI) all set to earn whopping amount by selling massive digital rights for Television and Digital media rights separately.
Based on reports from different media outlets, current media contract of Star Sports have been terminated and they will be battling for the upcoming media rights along with Sony Sports, Jio and Amazon prime.
Based on sources from different media outlets, Board is likely to earn close to 12000 crore which is exactly double amount as the last bidding happened in 2018.
“The process is on. Yes, the idea is to separate TV and Digital which was bundled earlier. But a final decision will be taken in the next apex council meeting. We received a great response for IPL and that’s the way forward. The numbers show that the audience is moving towards digital than TV. Hence, it only makes sense to separate the two. We expect upward of 12,000 Crore this time,” a senior BCCI official.
When it comes to BCCI media rights last time, Disney+ Hotstar bagged media rights in 2018 for whopping amount of INR 6138.10 crore.
Based on reports in different media sources, there is external company which has been hired now by BCCI to conduct the entire process for media rights.
