Bayern Munich produced the fine and impressive display against the Schalke side to register 1-0 victory and march into the next round of the DFB Pokal Cup. Joshua Kimmich’s strike was enough for the Hansi Flick managed side to seal the game for the Bavarians.

David Wagner managed Schalke started the game on a good note and had their moments on the pitch. However, they failed to seize the same and let Bayern Munich take the advantage on the pitch. Also, Bayern was more clinical in the end-to-end action.
Despite Bayern Munich had more ball possession, Bayern found it difficult and survived few important scares. Guido Burgstaller of Schalke hit the woodwork once and on the other note they had their goal ruled for offside. However, Kimmich’s first-half strike proved too detrimental for Bayern as they went 1-0 ahead at the break.
The hosts didn’t show their dominance as that of the first half and were less effective going forward and attacking the opposition territory in the second period. Moreover, Bayern Munich had the advantage to increase their slender lead but a solitary goal cushion was enough for them to progress ahead.
The player on loan from Barcelona, Philippe Coutinho almost doubled the lead for the Bavarian side at the hour mark. Former Liverpool player shot the ball from the long-range but the effort hit the woodwork. Schalke had a chance to equalise a few minutes later but failed to capitalise after Rabbi Matondo made a fine run.
18 minutes from the stoppage time, Leon Goretzka went close to disturb the scorers when he played an overhead free-kick form 16 yards which just clipped the bar. However, Bayern Munich were not made to lament for the same mistake.
