Bangladesh is all set to play three ODIs against Sri Lanka at home at the Sher-e-Bangla stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka. All the games are day-night fixtures and will be played on Sunday, May 23rd 2021, Tuesday 25th, 2021 and Friday 28th May 2021 respectively.

It will be the second ODI series for the host in the year 2021 after registering a 3-0 victory over the West Indies back in the month of January.

It will be the second ODI assignment for skipper Tamim Iqbal after experienced captain Mashrafe Mortaza who stepped down from the game last year.

Tamim also showed a bit of captaincy prowess while leading the Fortune Barishal in the inaugural edition of the Bangabandhu T20 Cup last year.

The news related to Sri Lankan players competing against Bangladesh was confirmed by Roshan Abeyasinghe via his official Twitter handle where he wrote “Sri Lanka will play 3 ODI’s vs Bangladesh on the 23rd, 25th and 28th May at the SBNCS Dhaka. All games being DN.”

However, two Bangladesh star players including the likes of Shakib Al Hassan and Mustafizur Rehman who were part of the ongoing season of IPL 2021 which has been suspended now will have to serve mandatory 14-day quarantine so they will be ideally not a part of playing X1 for the upcoming Sri Lankan series.

“They will have to do 14-day institutional quarantine. BCB had applied to us for them (reducing the quarantine period) but we have informed them that they don’t have any other choice but to follow the rule that is applicable for everyone. They have to complete the quarantine in our specified quarantine center and that can be either Hotel Sonargaon or Hotel Raddison,” One of the BCB official added.
