Aston Villa defeats Arsenal to jumps out of the relegation zone

Premier League is in its final week and teams are putting hard work for the survival. Aston Villa pulled off a win over Arsenal – the team who recently defeated Man City in FA Cup Semifinal and Liverpool in Premier League. Three points from this game made the Villans out of the relegation zone with one more game to go.

Trezeguet celebrating after netting a survival lifeline for Villa

Dean Smith’s men put a remarkable show. Their defenders set the benchmark against the top attackers of Arsenal overall and shut out them for the entire game. When Villa got an opportunity, Trezeguet netted a survival lifeline and pounced to hammer the ball past Martinez to clinch a 1-0 victory to avoid Championship next year.

Villa put the best performance of the season and they had more shots on goal than Arsenal at Villa Park last night. At the beginning of the game, Arsenal was using a 3-4-3 formation with Bukayo Saka and Cedric Soares – both were giving a tough time to home side’s defence.

Dean Smith managed to pull off this game with his tactics as he moved to a 4-1-4-1 formation after first drinks-break, having Jack Grealish and Trezeguet on top. The tactics worked for Villa in the first half and Gunners couldn’t break Villa’s defence. In the second half, FA Cup finalist went for the attacking approach and Villa was in bit pressure but they improved later.

The manager was spot on with his quality tactics last night and Villa made Arsenal suffer from their tight defence. Arsenal’s pass accuracy was tremendous with 88% but it was not enough. They had 7 shots but didn’t manage one on target.

Now the relegation battle is on between Villa, Watford and Bournemouth who will fight for the final survival in Premier League on Sunday. Dean Smith’s side are now ahead of the relegation zone and they would make the trip to West Ham on Sunday.
