The tall well-build right arm medium pace bowler Asif Masood is one of the stars for Pakistan during the 1970s. Born on 23, January 1946 at Lahore Pakistan Asif Masood made his test debut for Pakistan in 1969 against England. During the span of eight years, he has played 16 tests and took 38 wickets at an average of 41.26 for Pakistan. His career-best test match came against England at Birmingham test in 1971 where we took 5-111 and 4-49 in both innings on winning the cause. Due to this fine performance, he got selected for world eleven against Australia in 1972. He is known for his unorthodox bowling style and his seam and swing position made him a vulnerable threat to the opposition on the favorable conditions. He is more than his records suggests as he played most of the matches in sub-continental conditions. If he would have played more games in Australia and England where the conditions suit his bowling style he would have ended up in getting more wickets for Pakistan.
He also went on to play 7 ODI games for Pakistan during his short career in ODIs he has accounted for 5 wickets. He eventually got retired from all forms of cricket in 1977 and settled with his family in London. After retiring from cricket he currently remains as the successful businessmen in London. This tall lanky fast bowler was the real threat for opponents with his outrageous swing and seam with the new ball. He has been the go-to man for Pakistan in overseas conditions which earned him more reputation as a fast bowler. He was the most fearsome bowler in the domestic arena where he took 300 wickets. He was ineffective in docile sun continental pitches due to his lack of pace but performed excellently well in overseas conditions.
