The eagerly anticipated Asian Games 2023 is set to unfold in Hangzhou, People’s Republic of China, from September 23 to October 8, 2023. A delayed event, shifted from 2022 to 2023 due to the global pandemic, the Asian Games will showcase the prowess of athletes from across Asia in 40 sports.

India, with a rich history at the quadrennial spectacle, is ready to make its mark once again. The country’s participation has been steadily on the rise over the past decades, signifying its growing prominence in the Asian sporting arena.

With a robust representation of 634 athletes, India is all set to vie for victory in 38 diverse sports. Athletics, a perennial favorite, will feature the largest contingent with 65 athletes aiming for glory.

Recalling the 2018 edition in Jakarta, where India sent a delegation of 570 athletes competing across 36 sports, the forthcoming Asian Games in Hangzhou are primed to be even more exhilarating. Officially dubbed the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022, the event was initially scheduled for the previous year but was postponed due to the unprecedented challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the realm of cycling, India is fielding a formidable squad led by accomplished athletes. The men’s sprint category will see the likes of Ronaldo Singh Laitonjam, Rojit Singh Yanglem, David Beckham Elkatohchoongo, and Esow Alben competing for top honors. Their exceptional skills and unwavering determination are bound to set the tracks ablaze.

Furthermore, the men’s Madison category will witness the prowess of Harshveer Singh Sekhon and Vishavjeet Singh, who are expected to deliver a high-octane performance. Meanwhile, the women’s sprint category will see talents like Celestina, Triyasha Paul, Mayuri Lute, and Sushikala Agashe showcasing their speed and precision, aiming to bring home medals for India.
