England and Manchester United legend David Beckham has confirmed Inter Miami’s interest in signing current football stars Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. New Major League Soccer franchise Miami play their first-ever professional game this weekend against Los Angeles FC as the 2020 MLS season kicks off.

The Herons have been linked with some of the biggest stars in the game given the club’s financial backing and the draw of living in Florida.

And Beckham has now not been able to resist himself as he admitted that he would love to bring the likes of Messi and Ronaldo to Fort Lauderdale.

“We keep hearing that, we keep hearing about the players that get mentioned,” the former Manchester United, Real Madrid and LA Galaxy star told Sky Sports.

“But obviously, if any club around the world have the chance to bring in Cristiano or Leo to their squad then every team would want that.

“Of course, to have played at the highest level, for the amount of years they have played, and to still be doing it, it’s any owners dream to [sign them].

“We’re really happy with the squad that we have going into this weekend.

“We have some great talented young players, a couple of experienced players.

“Yes, we have ambitions of bringing big names into the club as well but we’ll take our time with them.”

Beckham intends to be in regular contact with the first-team and wants to take on a proactive role at the club alongside co-owner Jorge Mas.

“When you talk about hands-on there is no bigger hands on owners than you are looking at right now,” Beckham added.

“Our whole ownership group is hands on. That will continue because we care.

“This is not a vanity project it is a legacy for us, for our families.

“I want to create a legacy that my children can turn around in 20 years and say my dad built this club.”

Inter Miami travel to California to play their first game of MLS against LAFC at Banc of California Stadium. The game will be played on March 2 at 4 am IST.
