Delhi finished the first day of their Ranji Trophy 2026/27 round two Group C match against Gujarat on 381/4 after 84 overs. The game is being played in Delhi, and the home side won the toss and elected to bat on Sunday, 18 October 2026. Opener Priyansh Arya made 199, while captain Ayush Badoni remained unbeaten on 115 at the close of play.

Arya and Badoni added 234 for the fourth wicket, the partnership that shaped the day. Arya, who opened the innings, reached his maiden first‑class hundred off 126 balls. The milestone came in only his third first‑class match. The match is being staged at the Palam B Ground, Model Sports Complex, in the capital, and Badoni's unbeaten 115 kept Delhi in a strong position at stumps.

Arya's innings ended one run short of a double century. He was bowled by Manan Hingrajia in the 77th over, which left him on 199. Badoni stayed at the crease and carried on to the close. The dismissal meant Arya missed the chance to reach 200 in a first‑class innings, on a day when Delhi's batters scored heavily against the Gujarat attack.

Arya is the first Indian batter since KL Rahul to be dismissed for 199. He is also the 16th Indian to fall on that score in first‑class cricket. The 234‑run stand between Arya and Badoni was highlighted as the key feature of the opening day of the fixture in Delhi.

Arya is 25 and plays for Punjab Kings in the IPL. He has scored 839 runs across two IPL seasons, at a strike rate of 191.99 and an average of 27.96. The Ranji Trophy hundred came in only his third first‑class appearance, which makes the innings a notable step in the longer format for the Delhi opener.

Delhi began their campaign in round one against Bengal, where they were bowled out for 240 in their first innings. Mohammed Shami took 4‑30 for Bengal. Bengal then scored 429, with Abhishek Porel making 149. Delhi's position after the opening day against Gujarat therefore stands in contrast with their first‑innings total in that earlier fixture.

Day two of the Delhi and Gujarat match is on 19 October, and the contest runs until 21 October. Badoni will resume on 115 with Delhi on 381/4, and Gujarat are yet to bat in the match. Delhi's next listed Group C fixture is against Services in Delhi, scheduled for 2 to 5 November 2026.
