Annabel Sutherland is one of the youngest cricketers to have played in a global T20 league. She made her debut for Melbourne Renegades as a 15-year-old and at the time of her debut, she was the youngest player to feature in the big bash. She is right arm medium bowler who represents the Australian women cricket team in T20 cricket and has lots of potentials to be a future star.

Early Life & Journey

Annabell Sutherland was born on 12th October 2001 in Melbourne, Australia. She is an Australian cricketer who plays for Victoria and the Melbourne Stars in the women’s Big Bash League. She is the daughter of former head coach of Cricket Australia, James, and sister of Victorian all-rounder Will. Cricket is something that runs in her blood and with their family members already involved in the game of cricket, it was not tough for her to choose the game.

Ever since her childhood, she had that spark which helped her fast track her journey to the Australian team.
She has represented Australia at the under 15 and under 19 level. At the age of 15 years, she made her debut for Melbourne Renegades in the women’s Big Bash League and became the youngest player ever to feature in the big bash.

After just one season with Melbourne Renegades, she shifted to Melbourne stars. She has been playing domestic cricket for quite a while and has been performing extremely well for her side Victoria and at the same time she has been overseas as a part of the Australian under 19 teams and her performances have convinced the Australian Cricket Board to offer her a contract.

Finally in April 2019, Cricket Australia awarded her with a central contract due to her performances at the national level.

In January 2020, Cricket Australia announced that Sutherland will be a part of the Australian squad for the 2020 Australia women’s tri-nation series and the 2020 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. Her selection in the Australian team for the tri-series and the world cup was due to her performances in the women’s National Cricket League and Big Bash League.

She made her debut for the Australian national women’s cricket team on 1 February 2020 against England in a T20 match. She has played 3 T20 international matches to date and is ready to be a part of her debut World Cup.

She has represented Australian women’s cricket team in 3 T20 international matches and her debut came on 1st February 2020 against England in a tri-series prior to the T20 world cup of 2020.

In the three matches she has played for her country, she has scored 30 runs at an average of 30 with the highest score of 22 not out. She has a strike rate of 166.66. She has also managed to pick up a wicket but she has been expensive in the 3 matches as she has an economy of 10.

She made her Big Bash League debut at the age of 15 and has played 35 matches in the league scoring 262 runs with a high score of 38 and she has also picked up 21 wickets with her best bowling figure being 4 wickets for 20 runs.
