Personal Life
Singh was born to a Sikh household on January 9, of the year 2003 in Cheema Khurd, Punjab, India. Following the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, his grandfather Khushi Cheema escaped to the Netherlands, where he originally worked as a taxi driver before founding a transport business in Amstelveen. Over the ensuing decades, the family alternated between the Netherlands and India, finally settling down in the Netherlands when Singh was seven.
Playing Cricket Career
Peter Borren, the captain of the Netherlands, first noticed Singh when he was eleven years old and persuaded him to join VRA Amsterdam’s club cricket team. He attended Uniyal’s Chandigarh academy for several years, where he received private instruction from Borren and Amit Uniyal. At the age of 15, he made his Dutch A debut.
At the 2019 Under-19 World Cup Europe Qualifier, Singh played for the Netherlands national under-19 cricket team. He scored 304 runs from five innings, including 133 against France, to finish behind Tomas Mackintosh of Scotland as the second-highest run scorer at the competition.
Singh was selected for the Netherlands’ Twenty 20 International (T20I) team in the month of September of the year 2019 in preparation for the upcoming Ireland Tri-Nation Series. On September 19, of the year 2019, Vikramjit Singh played in his first T20I for the Netherlands against Scotland. Vikramjit Singh was one of seventeen cricketers from the Netherlands who were selected for the team’s senior squad in April 2020.
On May 11, 2021, while the Netherlands A squad was on a tour of Ireland and playing the Ireland Wolves, he made his List A debut. Vikramjit Singh was included in the Dutch One Day International (ODI) squad for their series against Scotland later that month. Vikramjit Singh was included in the Dutch ODI team for their series against New Zealand in February 2022. On March 29, 2022, Vikramjit Singh played his first One Day International (ODI) for the Netherlands against New Zealand.
Singh improved on his previous ODI personal best of 88 runs in July 2023, hitting 110 against Oman to assist the team defeat Oman by 74 runs in Harare, Zimbabwe, for the 2023 Cricket World Cup Qualifier. The Netherlands then defeated Scotland in the subsequent match to secure their spot in the 2023 Cricket World Cup.
