Summer Universiade Games 2019
Formally known as world university games or world student games was organized in the motto bringing together the student-athletes from the universities across the world. The event is organized by the International University Sports Federation. It will hold the competitions for sub-university grade students across the globe and it is one of the biggest multi-sport events after the Olympic Games. It will be held in two formats like Olympic Games one for winter events and another one for summer events.
Traditionally winter events will be held in the month of March and summer events will be held in the month of July. The event will be held two years once and participants from various countries will take part in this grand event. The last edition of the Summer Universiade was held at Taipei in 2017 and almost 11397 competitors have participated in 272 vents from 145 nations across the world. So far Russia is the most successful nation over the years followed by South Korea and Japan.
Summer Universiade 2019
The 30th edition of the Summer Universiade was scheduled to held at Naples, Italy between July 3 and July 14 next year. Almost 12,500 participants from 145 nations are expected to take part in the event. Originally Brazil was scheduled to host the event but due to financial issues, they have withdrawn from hosting. After this international university sports federation again opened the bidding for the hosting rights and Italy finally acquired it.
The event will serve as the learning curve for budding sportsperson across the globe. University-Level students can taste international standards through this event. Moreover, it will be a stepping stone for making big at international level. So the world sporting community will have a close eye on this event.
