“A player like him comes once in a generation’- Mohinder Amarnath compares Virat Kohli with the likes of Viv Richards and Ricky Ponting

Indian skipper Virat Kohli is facing huge criticism after they lost the inaugural World Test Championship Finals against New Zealand by wickets in Southampton.

Despite rain washing two complete days of the recently concluded marquee event, Kohli and co couldn’t evade defeat on the reserve day. As the team is facing huge criticism but fans and experts have asked Kohli to step down from captaincy as it was the third occasion in ICC knockout tournaments where Kohli under his captaincy failed to guide India for the title.

Former India cricketer Mohinder Amarnath stated that Virat Kohli should not be blamed for India’s dismal performance in WTC and subsequently for not living up to people’s expectations.

1983 World Cup-winning member said
that a player like Kohli comes once in a generation and he stands tall in the same category of stalwarts like Ricky Ponting and Viv Richards.

Kohli scored 44 and 13 runs in both the innings in the WTC final and gave away his wicket on both occasions to Kiwi speedster Kyle Jamieson. With Kohli bad luck in ICC tournaments, it seems challenging that India can win the upcoming T20 World Cup which is scheduled for the month of October 2021 in India.

However backup option like UAE and Oman is kept by ICC to conduct the upcoming mega event.
