This will be the first combat sports event for Netflix, which has recently dabbled in live sports productions. The fight is scheduled for July 20th at AT&T Stadium in Texas, home of the Dallas Cowboys.

While the specifics of the fight, including whether it will be a professional bout or an exhibition, are still being determined by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the excitement is already building.

Mike Tyson, a former undisputed heavyweight champion nicknamed “Iron Mike,” won’t be entering the ring cold. He’s been posting workout videos that show he’s still in top shape. However, his age is a factor, and safety is a major concern. His previous exhibition bout against Roy Jones Jr. was ruled a draw.

Meanwhile, Paul has been steadily building his boxing career since stepping into the ring professionally four years ago. He’s won most of his fights, with knockouts against lesser-known opponents. His only loss came last year to Tommy Fury, the half-brother of heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.

Jake Paul on X wrote, “My sights are set on becoming a world champion, and now I have a chance to prove myself against the greatest heavyweight champion of the world, the baddest man on the planet and the most dangerous boxer of all time. Time to put Iron Mike to sleep.”

While this fight might be a detour from Paul’s original goal of a world title shot, it’s definitely his biggest challenge yet, and a chance to fight his idol. It also holds significance for Tyson, who watched Paul’s second professional fight on the undercard of his own exhibition bout with Jones Jr.

Mike Tyson said, “I’m very much looking forward to stepping into the ring with Jake Paul at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.” Tyson also said, “He’s grown significantly as a boxer over the years, so it will be a lot of fun to see what the will and ambition of a kid’ can do with the experience and aptitude of a GOAT. It’s a full circle moment that will be beyond thrilling to watch; as I started him off on his boxing journey on the undercard of my fight with Roy Jones and now I plan to finish him.”
