WPL 2023 : Mumbai Indians become inaugural champions after a 7-wicket win against Delhi Capitals in the final!

Mumbai Indians Women have done it! The most successful outfit in Men’s IPL have secured the inaugural WPL title and engrave themselves in the history books. Mumbai Indians had to compete in the Eliminator 2 match against UP Warriorz, which they won convincingly on Friday night in order to qualify, whereas DC-W had already secured their place in the final by finishing first in the points standings during the league portion of the competition.

Despite having the same amount of points as DC, MI placed second in the points table due to a lower NRR. At the Brabourne stadium in Mumbai, Delhi Capitals have scored 131 runs after taking the field first, and Mumbai Indians need 132 runs to claim the WPL 2023 championship.

The Harmanpreet Kaur-led Mumbai Indians claimed the inaugural Women’s Premier League championship on Sunday after defeating Delhi Capitals by a thrilling seven wickets in the championship game at the Brabourne stadium. In a close, low-scoring final against Delhi, all-arounder Nat Sciver-Brunt played a valiant effort of 60 not out, off 55 balls, to lead Mumbai to victory.

Mumbai successfully surpassed the goal in front of a supportive crowd with three balls remaining after limiting Delhi to a below-par 131 for 9. As they reached 134 for 3 in 19.3 overs, Sciver-Brunt and captain Harmanpreet, who scored 37 off 39 deliveries, added a game-winning 72 runs for the third wicket.
