As, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) plans to hold the first-ever Women’s IPL. WIPL 2023 Auction is likely to take place on 13th Feb in Mumbai. There are total 1500 players registered for the tournament out of which 180 players will be shortlisted and finally 90 players will be picked out of all. The Women’s IPL 2023 will feature a total of 5 teams.

As, during the day-long auction, up to 90 players will be sold, a minimum of 15 and a maximum of 18 players can be purchased by each team. Teams can buy 7 overseas players, including one from an associate nation. Whereas Teams will be able to field up to five foreign players in their XI, providing one is from an associate nation.

Previously BCCI has requested that all cricketers, both those with and without caps, register online in order to be listed in the player auction registration in the paperwork it has provided to the Indian players. Each team will compete. with a purse of INR 12 crore which is approximately 1.46 million US $.

Viacom18 will own the media rights to the Women’s IPL for the next five years. The winning bid from the media conglomerate included a commitment of 951 crore, which translates to a match value of 7.09 crore for the inaugural women’s IPL.
