Why will Delhi Capitals wear a special rainbow jersey in their match Vs CSK? Here is what we know!
9th placed Delhi Capitals will be donning a special jersey during their final IPL fixture against the 4-time champions Chennai Super Kings. The match will get underway at the Arun Jaitley Stadium from 3:30 PM onwards and David Warner’s side will aim to finish the tournament in a positive note.
Which means they will look to win the match and try to spoil CSK’s party. MS Dhoni’s side are one of the teams still vying for the remaining 3 play-off spots and they have a must win game in hand otherwise they will miss out from finishing in the Top 4 for a 2nd season in a row.

Coming back to Delhi’s new look jersey then they have been wearing it for at least one match since the 2020 season. While most of the jersey remains sky blue, the lower part of the DC shirt has a Rainbow drawn over it. There can be several reasons why Delhi Capitals wear the special jersey.Â
One of them could be to support the LGBTQ+ community in India. The community’s flag looks just like a Rainbow and many assume DC pay respect to them by wearing the special jersey. Another reason for this special jersey could be a way to refresh themselves and bring some positivity.

As we all know, DC’s current season has not been good enough as they are already out of the play-offs contention but they are determined enough to end their campaign in a good note. Â
Last year, DC wore this special edition match shirt against Kolkata Knight Riders to get their 2nd half of the season off to a great start. The North-Indian franchise later sold the shirt during an auction and the money was donated to Inspire Institute of Sports in Karnataka.
Another possible reason is to celebrate India’s vast diversity as India is a huge nation, consisting of different languages and different cultures.
