“Unrealistic to Expect Victories without Scoring Goals” How AIFF President Kalyan Chaubey statement doesn’t make any sense at all for Indian Football

The Indian Football is in complete Jeopardy where they failed to win against Hong Kong and several coaches and experts have already predicted sad state of affair in Indian football due to variety of reasons which include- Infrastructure, scouting talent inefficacy, lacking in attack as well as defense and psychological giving up in the crunch situations make things difficult for them.

Before we dive deep into future of Indian football let us talk and share perspective of AIFF President Kalyan Chaubey on his take on current state of affair in Indian Football.

1. Thea All India Football Federation is all set to hunt for new Coach on June 29th after Manolo Marquez contract will be ended and mutually he will be told to part ways with Indian team.

2. He took Over as Full Time Coach from June 1st and previously he was associated with FC Goa, and as per reports, Marquez didn’t want to relinquish coaching role also only if both parties agree on mutual sources only in that scenario his contract could be possibly ended with Indian football team.

3. “We both have an executive committee meeting on June 29th where we will take call on Manolo’s future” said AIFF President Kalyan Chaubey said while talking to reporters on Friday.

4. “Manolo Marquez is one of the longest serving coaches in Indian Football setup, Over the years they have managed to serve in ISL as Coaches in distinct capacities not only that he has managed to win ISL trophy and Super Cup compared to other coaches his Understanding towards Indian Football is exceptional including the strength, weakness and challenges employed by distinct teams within the Indian Ecosystem” said Kalyan Chaubey President of All India Football Federation.

5. His record as Coach for Indian team is not upto the mark, but considering he hasn’t got longer stretch yet as Indian Football coach based on how we can judge whether he is good or bad coach for Indian team. Under his coaching tenure India have managed to win only one game that too against lower ranked Maldives at home in eight matches but the biggest worrying sign that team collectively have failed to score in last 3 matches which speaks a volume about dire state of Indian football.

6. If you look at recent performances- where they had a draw against Bangladesh, Away defeats against Thailand and Hong Kong.

7. Goal scoring ability have become consistent problem for them, it can be dictated based on 7 goals collectively they have scored in last 15 matches they have played since Jan 2024.

8.  Indian team performance has been so pathetic where they failed to win Competitive game since November 2023 where President Chaubey said “It is unrealistic to expect wins without scoring goals, There has been steady decline in Goals being scored from 1.64(in 2015) to 0.75 currently. While we appreciate Sunil Chhetri’s effort at 40, as a nation we also need to ensure there was supply of more forwards in systematic manner.  It’s difficult for wa Player who has played the supporting role in the club for 11 months to shift number 9 role (In International matches)We had no positive strikers in the last 10 years”.

9. If you look at how pathetic planning has been executed by Indian football all past 4 coaches including Only Chhetri have played on consistent basis in the last four National team coaches- Bob Houghton, Stephen Constantine, Igor Stimac and Manolo Marquez.

10. The only solution to this problem is allowing Overseas Indian Players and Person of Indian Origin, to play for Blue tigers otherwise the kind of football Indian team is playing at the moment, only Overseas players can resolve it.

11. President Kalyan Chaubey stated while talking to distinct media outlets “We have already contacted 33 Overseas Indian Cricketers to take them on board with us and like any other football federation, All Indian football Federation is committed to aligining with the laws of the land. Under FIFA’s Framework and regulations we are we are also actively exploring the possibility of securing approval for the inclusion of OCI players in the national team” said President Kalyan Chaubey

12. Indian Football team is in absolute shackles at the moment and lot of infrastructural changes are required to make it work for them in times to come and possible solution is based on how well they work on their weakness now.
