Top 5 players with the best economy rate in the IPL 2024 season

Even though it was a batter’s tournament as quite a few batting records were broken multiple times, some bowlers still managed to shine through with their phenomenal bowling displays and bowling accurate lines and lengths according to the conditions. In the T20 format, it is more crucial to bowl dot balls than take wickets, and hence, we are going to talk about the bowlers who had a brilliant economy rate throughout the season. The top 5 players with the best economy rate in the IPL 2024 season (minimum 10 wickets taken) are:

S. No. Player  Franchise  Wickets  Economy Rate
1 Jasprit Bumrah Mumbai Indians 20 6.48
2 Sunil Narine Kolkata Knight Riders 17 6.69
3 Axar Patel Delhi Capitals 11 7.65
4 Matheesha Pathirana Chennai Super Kings 13 7.68
5 Varun Chakravarthy Kolkata Knight Riders 21 8.04

Jasprit Bumrah

In what was a horrendous season for the Mumbai Indians, the only positive was the form of Jasprit Bumrah. The man bowled like his life depended on it, and we saw a magical fast bowler breaking stumps for fun. He had the best economy rate throughout the season and took 20 wickets. Bumrah was the only bowler in IPL 2024; the batters had a hard time hitting for boundaries, let alone sixes.

Sunil Narine

It was another golden year for the ever-evolving Sunil Narine, who, with his brilliant bowling display, led KKR to their third IPL trophy. Narine had an economy rate of 6.69 runs per over in IPL 2024.

Axar Patel

Axar Patel, who had a decent season with both the ball and the bat, still ended with an economy rate of 7.65 runs per over as he dried up the runs with his exceptional left-arm spin bowling.

Matheesha Pathirana

Even after struggling with injuries, Matheesha Pathirana showed that in the CSK jersey, he is a different beast. He took 13 wickets and had an economy rate of only 7.68 runs per over.

Varun Chakravarthy
