Three Half Centuries From Oman Against UAE In World Cup Qualifiers

With 3 crunching fifties from their batters, Oman continued their impressive form in the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers, clinching a five-wicket victory over UAE in Bulawayo on Wednesday. Oman garnered fans’ attention for their impressive performances.

Batting first, UAE posted a challenging 227-8, thanks to a half-century from Aayan Afzal Khan (58) and Vriitya Aravind’s vital (49). Jay Odedara was the pick of the Oman bowlers with 3-31.

Put into bat, UAE made a solid start, reaching 100 for 2 in the 20th over before losing wickets at regular intervals. Vriitya Aravind and Aayan Khan top-scored with 58 and 49 respectively, while Rameez Shahzad made 38. Oman’s bowlers were disciplined, with Jay Odedara taking 3 for 31 and Bilal Khan 2 for 46.

In reply, Oman got off to a slow start, but Aqib Ilyas and Shoaib Khan put on a 95-run partnership for the third wicket to get their side on track. Ilyas made 53, while Khan scored 52 not out. Mohammad Nadeem also made a valuable contribution with an unbeaten 50, as Oman reached their target with four overs to spare.

The win keeps Oman top of Group B in the qualifiers, with four points from two matches. UAE are bottom of the group, with two defeats from two matches.

Oman skipper Shoaib Khan said after the match, “We are very happy with the win. We executed our plans very well and the wicket was good for batting. We have two more matches to play and we will try to win both of them.”

UAE captain Ahmed Raza said, “We didn’t bat well enough in the first innings and that put us under pressure. Oman were very good with the bat and they deserved to win.”

The next match in the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers will be played on Friday when Ireland takes on Sri Lanka.
