The Hundred Mens Competition 2023: George Garton makes Southern Brave Win by 9 Wickets

The 17th match of the Hundreds Mens Competition 2023, between Welsh Fire and Southern Brave, was certainly one of the most low-scoring matches. Welsh Fire was not even able to reach the score of 100. They were all out at a score of 87 runs. It was all because of the extraordinary bowling performance given by George Garton. This showed that one bowler can certainly make a huge difference in the tournament.

Contribution of George Garton:

  • George Garton only bowled 15 deliveries, and in those, he was able to take 3 wickets. At the same time, he was also very economical, as he gave away only 8 runs.
  • The highest-scoring batter of the Southern Brave team was Stevie Eskinazi, and he scored 38 runs off 34 balls. It was George Garton who took his wicket before he got dangerous.
  • The second important wicket of Garton,  from the Welsh Fire batting line up was of Joe Clarke, he was out for Duck.
  • Willey’s wicket was another important wicket that was taken by Garton. If he had got settled, then it could have been dangerous for the team.

Taking 3 wickets in only 15 balls is certainly a brilliant performance. It means that Garton was taking 1 wicket every 5 balls. This shows the quality of bowling he showcased in his spell.

Tymal Mills quality spells

This is certain that Tymal Mills made a brilliant contribution too. Even though he took 4 wickets, still he didn’t get the Player of the Match award. Maybe because he didn’t get the big fish. However, without his contribution, restricting the opponents within 100 runs would have been difficult. He took 4 wickets in 20 balls, and his RPB was only 0.60.

Southern Brave is at no. 3 in the points table, and they have all the chance to win the Hundred Mens Competition if they perform consistently well.
