The Hundred Mens Competition 2023: Welsh Fire vs Southern Brave

The 17th match of The Hundred Mens Competition 2023, between Welsh Fire and Southern Brave, was completely one-sided. The quality of bowling by Southern Brave was certainly one of the best in the tournament. They didn’t let their opponent even reach the target of 100. Only 159 bowls were bowled in the tournament, and that makes it clear that Southern Brave won the match with ease.

Highlights of the match:

Welsh Fire Innings 

  • Welsh Fire batted first, and they struggled to get a good start since the beginning of the match. Steve Eskinazi didn’t get any partners since the beginning of the game. 
  • Bairstow got out for a Duck, Joe Clarke got out for a Duck, and Abell got out for only 1.  
  • Soon, the score was 34-4, and it was looking clear that Welsh Fire will not be able to cover up for the damage they have suffered. 
  • Steve Eskinazi was the only batter who was trying to make a contribution, but his wicket fell at the team score of 77. He made the contribution of 38 runs on 34 balls, with 3 boundaries. 
  • Once the score was 77-6, the other batters were not able to make any important contribution, and the whole team got out, at a score of 87 runs only. 

Southern Brave Innings 

  • Southern Brave had a short target in front of them. They only had to chase 88 runs. 
  • Only 3 batters got a chance to bat in the Southern Brave’s team, and they all made the contribution. 
  • Finn Allen scored 31, Devon Conway made the contribution of 34, and captain Leus du Plooy scored 17 runs. The target was achieved by Southern Brave only in 59 balls. 

Southern Brave stands tall in the points table. With this win, they are in the number 3 position. They are certainly giving their best shot.
