T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8 schedule and fixtures
The Indian cricket team secured their place in the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup 2024. They dominated their group stage match against the United States of America (USA), Pakistan and Ireland. What is the Super 8 Stage?
The Super 8 stage is the second round of the tournament. Here, the eight qualified teams are divided into 2 groups of 4 teams each. Each team plays the other three in their group, and the top 2 teams from each group advance to the semi-finals.
How are the Super 8 Groups Formed?
The teams in each Super 8 group are decided based on their pre-tournament rankings. A1 (the top seed from Group A) will play with B2 (the second seed from Group B), and so on. This creates a balanced competition with strong teams spread across both groups.
Who’s Confirmed in India’s Super 8 Pool?
India, as the top seed in Group A, is confirmed in one of the Super 8 pools (Pool A). Joining them will be Australia, the second seed from Group B. This is because Group B included England, the defending champion, so Australia automatically becomes the second seed despite their number 1 position in the group stage.

Who Else Might Join India’s Pool?
The final standings in the other two groups (C and D) are yet to be determined. Currently, New Zealand, the top seed in Group C, seems unlikely to qualify. Afghanistan is the team most likely to take their place, joining India’s Super 8 pool (Pool A).
Who Might India Face from Group D?
South Africa, the top seed in Group D, has already secured their Super 8 spot. The second team from this group, most likely Bangladesh, is expected to be India’s opponent in the Super 8 stage (Pool A).

T20 World Cup 2024 Semifinals and Final
The top 2 teams from each group of Super 8 will be qualified for the next round – the Semifinals. The semifinal 1 match will be played between the topper of group 1 and the team that finishes second in the group 2. Meanwhile, semifinal 2 will see the topper of group 2 face off against the team that finishes second in the group 1. The winner of semifinal 1 and 2 will further proceed to battle it out in the Final of T20 World Cup 2024.
