He made his debut a long time back in the year 2005, but he has given a number of great performances since then. Now he is the go-to player of the country in almost all the tournaments. Date of Birth 

Sunil Chhetri was born on August 3rd, 1984. His birthplace is Secunderabad, which is now in Telangana. 

Football legacy in Sunil’s family 

The legacy of football was in the family of Sunil Chhetri, he only carried it further. His father served in the army, and he played for the Indian Army Football team. His mother is from Nepal, and she played for the Nepal Football Team. It means Sunil was never short of inspiration. 

A nomadic life

In his younger days, Chhetri moved to a lot of places. That is because of the transfers his Father used to get. That even included the metro cities like, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Delhi. The footballer completely gives credit to his family for the person he is today. He has mentioned that it has been his family who always allowed him to do what he likes. 

Signing Mohun Bagan 

Only at the age of 17 Sunil Chhetri signed for Mohun Bagan. His first three years were not the best. That is because in the 18 games he played, he managed to score only 8 goals. However, he was able to showcase his talent completely for the first time in the Santosh Trophy in 2004. In one of the games for Delhi, he managed to score six goals. 

Later on, he joined the Punjab-based club, and after that, his growth as a player didn’t stop. Fans are now hoping that he gets a chance to play in the Asian Games. No doubt, he even shows his excellence there.
