It is certainly very hard to believe this news, but Stuart Broad has announced his retirement from international Cricket. He mentioned that on the 29th of July 2023, in the post-innings conversation with the experts. He mentioned that he wanted the Ashes test match to be his last one, and the series has been one of the most exciting and enjoyable for him. His retirement is certainly going to put more pressure on James Anderson. The last match of the Ashes is certainly the best platform for any English or Australian cricketer to retire.

Top three best spells of Stuart Broad in his career

Here are the top three spells of Stuart Broad. However, apart from these three, there have been many other match-winning performances given by Stuart Broad.  But these three are certainly the best of him. 

8/15 – Australia, Trent Bridge, 2015 

The most iconic spell was bowled by Stuart Broad during the Ashes of 2015. In that match, Anderson was not playing due to injury, and Broad went on to take eight wickets, by only giving 15 runs. 

6/17 – South Africa, Wanderers, 2016 

Most of the best spells of Stuart Broad have been in England. But this one is really special because this was bowled outside England. With his spell of 6/17, Broad was able to make his team win, not only the match but even the series. 

6/22 – Australia, Chester-le-Street, 2013 

Australia was chasing the easy target of 299 runs. However, the great spell of 6/22 by Stuart Broad ensured to put a full stop on their performance. Soon, England snatched the victory from the opposition. 

Stuart Broad has taken 600 Test wickets till now, and this makes him one of the greatest bowlers to have ever played this game. It will be great for him to retire on a winning note. For that England will try their best to finish it in a draw.
