Sri Lanka’s Dushmantha Chameera has been excluded from the Super Six

Dushmantha Chameera of Sri Lanka has been ruled out of the Super Six in the World Cup Qualifiers held in Zimbabwe due to a right pectoral muscle injury he sustained during practice before their first qualifier game. The speedster has played 44 ODIs and taken 50 wickets at an economy rate of 5.39. The 31-year-old will undergo rehabilitation at the High-Performance Center in RPICS. Chameera has been replaced by Dilshan Madhushanka in the squad.

Sri Lanka Cricket’s official handle reported that Dushmantha Chameera is still recuperating from a right pectoral muscle injury he suffered on his right shoulder during practice before Sri Lanka’s first game of the group stage of the qualifiers. As a result, Chameera will not be available for the Super Six Round games and will return home to participate in a rehabilitation program at the High-Performance Center in RPICS. Dilshan Madushanka will replace Chameera in the squad.”

 

Sri Lanka qualify for World Cup Qualifiers Super Six in style

Sri Lanka has been in remarkable form in the World Cup Qualifiers, winning four games in a row against Scotland, Oman, Ireland, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the group-stage games. The team has qualified for the Super Six in style, and the points from victories against qualifying teams are carried into the Super Six stage. Sri Lanka’s next game is against the Netherlands in Bulawayo on June 30, followed by matches against Scotland and the West Indies. The team hopes to qualify for the 2023 ODI World Cup, which is scheduled to be played in India from October 5 to November 19.

The current Shri Lanka  squad includes Pathum Nissanka, Dimuth Karunaratne, Kusal Mendis, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Charith Asalanka, Dhananjaya de Silva, Dasun Shanaka, Wanindu Hasaranga, Maheesh Theekshana, Kasun Rajitha, Lahiru Kumara, Dilshan Madhushanka, Chamika Karunaratne, Matheesha Pathirana, and Dushan Hemantha.
