Sunrisers Hyderabad on thursday announced that their Star All-Rounder Washington Sundar has been ruled out of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 due to a hamstring injury. Sundar has been a pillar of the Sunrisers squad for the all of the season, but he won’t be able to participate in the remaining games.
The team has not yet announced a successor for the all-around spin bowler. Washington Sundar’s hamstring issue has forced him to withdraw from the IPL in 2023. Wishing Washi a speedy recovery, the Sunrisers tweeted.

The all-rounder is a crucial member of the SRH team, despite the fact that he hasn’t been at his best this season. Sundar has three wickets under his belt in seven matches at an average of 48.66 and an economy of 8.26 before being thrown out of the 16th season of the league with 60 runs scored at an average of 15. In the IPL 2022 auction, Sundar was purchased by the Sunrisers for Rs. 8.25 crore.
The Tamil Nadu player also suffered fractured webbing in his bowling hand during the previous IPL season.
The Sunrisers’ hopes of making the playoffs this season have been severely damaged due to Sundar’s absence. The Aiden Markram-led team hasn’t been able to match some of the other teams’ on-field performances, languishing at the bottom of the standings with just two victories in their previous five games. Their next league matchup is against Delhi Capitals.
In the current 10-team standings, SRH are mired in ninth place with two victories and five defeats from their first seven games. They still haven’t named Sundar’s replacement.
