‘Spring bat?’ Ricky Ponting made a big revelation regarding the World Cup 2003

Former Australian cricket team captain Ricky Ponting has surprised the media and cricket fans with his big statement on the rumors that his bat had a spring during the 2003 World cup held in South Africa. 

In the video uploaded on social media platform by Delhi Capitals, Ponting was questioned whether his bat had a spring or not. He gave a hilarious answer to this question.

As a matter of fact, Ricky Ponting was in tremendous form and showed great performance during the world cup in 2003. In the final match against India, He played an imperishable inning of 140 runs in 121 balls with the help of 4 fours and 8 sixes. As a result, Australia was able to make a big score. It was a roast for the  Indian bowlers and Ricky Ponting brutally thrashed them.

Then,  the rumor was started among Indian fans that a spring had been attached to the bat and with that it was the most likely reason for the ball to travel beyond the reaches of fielders after hitting it. This is still a topic of discussion even nowadays.

Ricky Ponting is the current coach of Delhi Capitals in IPL and when he was asked about the spring in this bat, at first he replied that, yes, there is a spring just in between the handles in an hilarious way, and later he denied it. He humorously said –

spring bat? I have never even heard of this. What is this spring bat? It is attached to the handle or to the face of the bat. I have never heard of this. There is no such thing as a spring bat. There was a lot of talk about this in India but no such discussion ever took place in Australia.
