Son Heung-min’s incredible solo strike against Burnley voted Premier League Goal of the Month

Tottenham Hotspur winger Son Heung-min’s incredible solo strike for Tottenham Hotspur against Burnley has been voted the Premier League Goal of the Month for December.

The South Korea international picked the ball up on the edge of his own box, ran away from two players and skipped past two challenges before slotting beyond Nick Pope.

The winger dribbled 71.4 meters in only 11 seconds with a goal he described as “Unbelievable”.

“It’s a big honour for me especially with this special goal,” he said.

“As soon as I got the ball, I tried to find a pass and I was a bit lucky, I dribbled into space where no-one was.

“I tried to finish it well because the action before was really quick. I was really focused on my finishing – it was an amazing feeling.”

This is the second time that the 27-year-old has won the award after his November 2018 accolade for a similar run and finish against London rivals Chelsea.

He also became only the fourth player since the prize was introduced in 2016/17 to win on two occasions, after Pedro, Andros Townsend, and Eden Hazard.

Son was chosen by a panel of experts combined with a public vote, beating seven other contenders.

Meanwhile, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been named the Premier League Manager of the Month for December 2019.

The German gaffer wins the award for the fourth time this season after a historic end to the year with the Reds.

It is the seventh time Klopp has been named Manager of the Month and the fourth time he has won it this season. The only month in which he has not won it in this campaign was October when Chelsea’s Frank Lampard picked up the award.

“It’s really good, and at this moment the only thought I have, I want to win it in January,” Klopp said.

Right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, on the other hand, won the Premier League Player of the Month award for December 2019.

The Liverpool defender won his first Premier League monthly award after producing a goal, three assists and three clean sheets in a flawless end to the year.
