When the going gets tough, any help, of any sort, even from unlikely sources, is welcome and a needed one.

On a four-game losing run, the Philadelphia 76ers couldn’t care less about who turned up the heat on this particular night as they finally get their season back on track with a 119-107 win over the Memphis Grizzlies at Wells Fargo Center Philadelphia.

If you didn’t watch the game and turn on the highlight reel late in the day, you are in for a big surprise as Furkan Korkmaz, who remained a fringe player until a strong 2019-20 pre-season brought him back into the first-team fold, produced an absolute monster of a game, scoring 34 points from the bench, in only 29 minutes. The 22-year-old guard also had six rebounds and four assists to add to his phenomenal efforts.

Whatever got into Korkmazz, he would hope he feels the same every day and night, for he would struggle to emulate this uncanny performance. The reason being, he was almost flawless, after all making 13 of 17 shots, including 7 of 9 3-pointers, is not a normal thing.

“It was a tough week,” Korkmaz said after the game. “Everybody brought their spirit, everybody helped each other and everybody looked good on the court.”

Joel Embiid clocked 16 minutes in the first half and didn’t turn up after the break due to a stiff neck. HIs game numbers read 10 points and 10 rebounds for the night.

Ben Simmons scored a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds, Tobias Harris contributed with 21 points, 6 boards and five assists, while Al Horford finished the game with 10 points, 6 assists and 8 rebounds.

For the Grizzlies, no player could touch the 20-point mark with Ja Morant finishing with a team-high 15 points. Morant, a front runner for the coveted NBA rookie of the year, struggled against Sixers’ physicality and especially against Ben Simmons.

After that win, Sixers now hold the best home record this season with 23 wins from 25 games and improved their season record to 32-21. They also climbed to 5th after Indiana Pacers’ 106-115 defeat against Toronto Raptors.
