Simranjit Kaur Baatth, an amateur boxer from the state of Punjab, of the country India, was born in the year 1995. Since the year 2011, Simranjit Kaur has represented India on the international level. At the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships in the year 2018, Kaur brought home a bronze medal for India.

Simranjit Kaur competed for India’s women’s boxing team and took first place in the 64 kg division in the Ahmet Comert International Boxing Tournament in Istanbul, Turkey. The first female boxer from Punjab to compete in the Olympics is Baatth. Simranjit took home silver from the Asian Championships of the year 2019 and bronze from the World Championships of the year 2018. At the German Cologne Boxing World Cup, Simranjit Kaur took home the gold title.

Early Life

Kamal Jeet Singh and Rajpal Kaur welcomed Simranjit Kaur Baatth into the world on July 10, of the year 1995, in Chakar, Punjab, India. In the month of July of the year 2018, her father, who worked at a nearby supermarket, passed away from a heart attack. After discovering that Simranjit Kaur Baatth’s older siblings were also boxers, Kaur’s mother pushed her to take up the sport.

Boxing Career

At the sixth Junior Women’s National Boxing Championship in Patiala in the year 2011, Simranjit Kaur took home a bronze medal.

At the 4th Inter-Zonal Women’s National Boxing Championship in Vishakhapatnam and the 8th Junior Women’s National Boxing Championship in Patiala in the year 2012, Simranjit Kaur took home bronze and silver medals.

Simranjit Kaur earned a bronze medal in the year 2015 in New Bongaigaon, Guwahati, at the 16th Senior (Elite) Women’s National Boxing Championship.

In the year 2018, Simranjit Kaur shared a gold medal with Monika and Bhagyabati Kachari at the Ahmet Comert International Boxing Tournament in Istanbul, Turkey, where they competed in the 64 kg and 81 kg weight divisions.

At the 2018 AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships, which were held in New Delhi, India, and were captained by Mary Kom, Kaur was a member of the 10-person Indian team. Simranjit Kaur went on to win the bronze medal for India in the light welterweight division.

At the 2019 President’s Cup International Boxing Tournament in Labuan Baju, Indonesia, Simranjit Kaur took home the gold medal.

At the Asian Boxing Championships in Dubai, Raykhona Kodirova of Uzbekistan was defeated by Simranjit Kaur 4-1.

In order to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics, Simranjit Kaur won silver in the women’s lightweight (57–60 kg) division at the Asian boxing Olympic qualifiers in Amman, Jordan in the month of March of the year 2020.
