Cricketer Simon Atai was born in Papua New Guinea on September 19, of the year 1999, and represents the national cricket team of Papua New Guinea.

Playing Cricket Career

Simon Atai was included in the Papua New Guinea squad for the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup in the month of December of the year 2017. With 116 runs in six games, Simon Atai led Papua New Guinea in scoring during the tournament.

Simon Atai was included in Papua New Guinea’s roster for the 2019 ICC World Cricket League Division Two competition in Namibia in the month of April of the year 2019. On April 26, of the year 2019, in the 2019 ICC World Cricket League Division Two tournament, Simon Atai made his List A debut for Papua New Guinea against Oman. The tournament’s top four finishers earned One Day International (ODI) status for Papua New Guinea. In the third-place playoff of the competition on April 27, of the year 2019, Atai made his One Day International (ODI) debut for Papua New Guinea against the United States (US).

On July 8, of the year 2019, Simon Atai played his first Twenty 20 International (T20I) match for Papua New Guinea against Samoa in the men’s competition at the 2019 Pacific Games. Simon Atai was included in the Papua New Guinea team for the 2019 ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier match in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the month of September of the year 2019. Atai was selected for the Papua New Guinea team to compete in the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in the month of August of the year 2021.
