Shashikala Siriwardene is a Sri Lankan cricketer who represents Sri Lanka in international cricket. She is a right-handed batsman and slow right-arm off-spinner. She has been also included in the Sri Lankan Women cricket squad for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020.

Shashikala Siriwardene was born on February 14, 1985 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. She is a right-arm off-break bowler. She is the former captain of the Sri Lankan women’s cricket team in ODI format. She is the most experienced player in this side. She is a former student of President’s College, Sri Jayawardenapura Kotte.

Shashikala Siriwardene Professional Life:
In March 2003, she made her ODI debut against West Indies. In her debut game, She took 2 wickets and also scored 29 to win the game for Sri Lanka. In 2005-06 Women’s Asia Cup, she recorded her best bowling figure with 4–11 against Pakistan in the in Karachi. Next year, she picked another 4-wickets haul against Pakistan in the next edition of Women’s Asia Cup.
Siriwardene is the only Sri Lanka woman cricketer to take 100 ODI wickets in WODIs. She has the record of taking 100 wickets and 1000 runs in WODI for Sri Lanka. Siriwardene is the first and only Sri Lankan woman cricketer to get 100 wickets in the history of WODIs.
She is the Sri Lankan Women cricketer to captain the side most number of times in Women’s Cricket. She led the side in 49 WODI matches and on 18 times, Sri Lanka were on the winning side.
Shashikala is the second leading run-scorer for Sri Lanka in ODI format with 1,554 runs. In 87 matches, she scored seven fifties. She is the highest wicket-taker for Sri Lanka in ODI format as she bagged 101 wickets including six 4-wicket hauls.
In Women T20 Internationals, Siriwardene has scored 663 runs in 45 matches and picked 44 wickets at an average of 19.29. Siriwardene captained Sri Lanka in T20I in 31 matches and Sri Lanka have won 9 of them. Her winning percentage as the T20I captain is 31.03%.
In Women’s Cricket World Cup 2017, she becomes the first woman cricketer to play in 100 WODI matches for Sri Lanka. She also participated in ICC Women’s World Twenty20 in 2018 and she was the joint-leading wicket-taker for Sri Lanka in the tournament. In 2019, she announced that she would be retiring from international cricket after T20 World Cup 2020.
