Bangladesh’s bowlers, Sultana Khatun (3-21) and Fahima Khatun (2-16), delivered impressive spells, causing havoc in India’s batting order and restricting them to a modest total of 95/8 in 20 overs.

However, when it was time to defend the target of 96, India started strongly with Minnu Mani dismissing Shamima Sultana for just 5 runs in the second over. Deepti Sharma soon joined the action, displaying her spin-bowling prowess by claiming the wicket of Shathi Rani in the third over.

As the game progressed, the duo of Murshida Khatun and Nigar Sultana attempted to stabilize the innings for Bangladesh against the disciplined Indian bowling attack. In the seventh over, Bareddy Anusha, making her T20I debut, grabbed her maiden wicket, dismissing Murshida Khatun for 4.

The right-handed batter Ritu Moni took the crease but was unable to make a significant impact as Minnu Mani struck again in the 8th over, removing Moni from the equation. Deepti Sharma continued her brilliant performance, claiming her second wicket by dismissing Shorna Akter for 7 in the 15th over.

Nevertheless, Bangladesh’s captain, Nigar Sultana, persevered with determination and a touch of luck, shouldering the responsibility to extend the game. She skillfully rotated the strike and occasionally found the boundary, keeping Bangladesh’s hopes alive. However, her dismissal in the 19th over tilted the game in India’s favour.

Fahima Khatun was then caught and bowled by the star performer on the fourth delivery. Verma continued her splendid spell by dismissing Marufa Akter for zero, ultimately bowling out Bangladesh for 87 and securing a hard-fought 8-run victory.
