Sergio Romero goes unharmed in the car crash

Manchester United’s goalkeeper Sergio Romero was involved in a horror car crash near the club’s training ground at Carrington on Monday. The Argentine international escaped unharmed from the scare after his £170,000 Lamborghini span out of control and smashed through a barrier and into a hedge on Carrington Spur Road through Ashton, near to the Reds’ training ground.sergio-romero-unhurt-after-car-accident

Romero, 32, was seen in images posted on social media standing next to the car which was wedged underneath a roadside crash barrier close to United’s Carrington training ground. Sergio Romero was seen wearing an orange puffer jacket standing outside his smashed-up car.

The Manchester Evening News cited a club source as saying Sergio Romero was involved in the crash but did not suffer any injuries. Sky Sports reported the Argentina international was even able to take a normal part in training on Monday.

Despite the shocking photos that have circulated of the aftermath, United have confirmed Romero escaped unhurt.

The 32-year-old Argentina international even managed to train with the rest of the squad only hours after he watched his team-mates lose 2-0 to Liverpool. Police and traffic officers attended the incident and traffic cones were placed around the stricken vehicle.sergio-romero-car-accident-2020

Footage also emerged across social media of Romero’s car in ruins on the side of the road but with the United man stood safely to one side of the wreckage.

Despite his impressive international record, Romero has found club appearances hard to come by at Old Trafford and remains as the second choice keeper and is usually only used for cup games.

Romero signed for Manchester United in 2015 but has made just 53 appearances as he has largely been the second choice behind David de Gea. Sergio Romero, who has won 96 caps for Argentina, has been married to Eliana Guercio since 2008. The couple has two children together.
