Sarabjot Singh Biography
Out of the 21 members of the Indian shooting contingent that will be traveling to Paris, most of the shooters are still very young but extremely talented and hard-working. Sarabjot Singh is another such personality, who is just 22 years old and has a very interesting story of how he reached the pinnacle of his sport, which is filled with nothing but obstacles. Sarabjot Singh had a thing for shooting from the very early days of his childhood and dreamed about representing India in this sport at the Olympics.
Early Life
Sarabjot, a resident of Dheen village in Ambala’s Barara block, Haryana, is the son of Jatinder Singh, a hardworking farmer, and Hardeep Kaur, a dedicated homemaker. His educational journey brought him to DAV College in Sector 10, Chandigarh, where he studied with tenacity and attention.
Growing up amid the picturesque beauty of rural Haryana, Sarabjot learned the principles of hard work and persistence from his family and environment, which he carried into his shooting career. He picked up a pistol at a young age and has always practiced with determination. The results are there to see for everybody today.
Shooting Career
His path to excellence began earlier, in 2019, when he made his entrance on the global stage by winning gold in the ISSF Junior World Cup, demonstrating exceptional potential and promise at a young age. Then, at the Asian Championships in Doha in 2019, he won a gold medal and a bronze medal in the mixed team and men’s team events, respectively.
Moving forward to 2021, Sarabjot’s outstanding accomplishments continued, with gold in both the individual and team events at the World Championships, cementing his status as a top-tier shooter. In the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games, he was the winner of a gold medal in the men’s team 10 meter air pistol category and a silver medal in the 10 meter air pistol mixed team category.
Sarabjot earned another feather in his cap in 2023 when he won gold for India in the 10 meter air pistol team event, playing an important role in the victorious three-person team. His solo brilliance was also highlighted, as he qualified for the solo final, demonstrating his outstanding skill and composure under pressure on the world stage.
Sarabjot has not only brought pride to his homeland of Dheen village in Ambala but has also emerged as a shining symbol of India’s shooting talent, encouraging aspiring athletes across the country.
