Sanjay Bangar is appointed as RCB Head Coach for the upcoming IPL season

Royal Challengers Bangalore has appointed Sanjay Bangar as the new Head Coach of the upcoming IPL season which will include two more teams in the form of Lucknow and Ahmedabad. Bangar will take over the role from Mike Hesson who will continue with the team as Director of Cricket Operations.

“It’s an honour and great opportunity to serve such a great franchise in the capacity of Head Coach. I have worked with some exceptional and talented members in the squad and can’t wait to take this team to the next level. There’s a lot of work that needs to be done with the IPL Mega Auctions and the season following it, but I’m sure that together with the continued support of the management and the support staff, we can deliver the goods and bring cheer to our fans across the globe,” the newly appointed coach said.

RCB Chairman Prathmesh Mishra said that the Bangar appointment was a complete reflection of the team’s philosophy of grooming young talent in the franchise and his wealth of experience as the coach would maximize the potential of the squad. Bangar has been part of the franchise support staff and also has been part of the Indian team in the past as a batting consultant.

Royal Challengers Bangalore hasn’t won a single IPL title and Kohli who has led this franchise from 2013 onwards to till now before leaving his captaincy will need a new skipper for next season and they will eagerly be waiting for the upcoming IPL auction and most probably they will be either going for David Warner or some other overseas player who has brilliant captaincy record.  Franchise have to pick certain good Indian domestic players who can add dimension in their batting and bowling and also some power hitters who can change the equation of the game to a great extent.
