“Sakshi calls the shots at home,” says MS Dhoni

Former Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has said that his wife Sakshi is the one who calls the shots at home, and admitted that he never gets in her way. The 38-year old, who last played for the national team in the World Cup semis this year against New Zealand, shed light on his marriage at a function on Tuesday.

“All men are like lions until they get married. I am like an ideal husband…I let my wife do everything. I know I can be happy only if my wife is happy. My wife will only be happy if I say yes to anything and everything that she says,” he added.

Jokes apart, Dhoni also had words of wisdom about relationships and marriage and stated that bonds only get stronger with age.

The real essence of marriage is once you cross 50. Once you are 55, I would say that’s the real age for love. That’s where you get slightly away from whatever your daily routine is,” he said.

MS Dhoni married Sakshi, a Kolkata girl, in July 2010. They have a four-year-old daughter.

The Jharkhand player has not played for India in the last four months, with speculations rife over his future with the Indian team. However, his friends have constantly brushed aside talks of retirement rumours.

Dhoni missed the tour of West Indies immediately after the World Cup to serve in the Indian army, but since then, has made himself unavailable for the home series’ against South Africa and Bangladesh. He has not been picked in the upcoming series against Windies from next month either.

Sources, however, say that Dhoni will only take a call on his future post the IPL 2020, where he will gauge his fitness and form. Rishabh Pant has replaced Dhoni in the ODI and the T20I team of late, but the youngster has been in the firing line due to his inconsistencies and decision-making.
