In the Wankhede stadium, a life-size statue of cricket great Sachin Tendulkar will soon be unveiled for fans to admire, announced president of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) Amol Kale on Tuesday. It will mark first time a player’s statue has been erected at the famous stadium.

The 2023 ICC World Cup will mark the unveiling of the statue. It will be mounted on a spherical platform outside the MCA lounge. The statue is a part of the MCA’s celebration of the Master Blaster’s Golden Jubilee year at the Wankhede.

Few life-size statues may be found in cricket grounds across the nation. Colonel CK Nayudu, a former Indian captain, has only had three distinct sculptures constructed so far. The Holkar Stadium in Indore, the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) stadium in Nagpur, and the VDCA stadium in Andhra Pradesh are where you may find them.

At the MCA, The Master Blaster was present with Amol Kale and spoke with media.

“I was pleasantly surprised by this choice because everything began at the Wankhede in 1998. For me, the trip began right here. I took part in my first Ranji game here. I was once admonished by Achrekar Sir, and ever since then, I’ve taken cricket seriously. This is the location of my last game. Here, my life has come full circle. I have many beautiful memories of this site, both good and bad. It’s an important occasion for me, “added Sachin.

The great batter talked fondly of his experiences at the Wankhede and expressed his love for the venue.
