Roy Keane Reckons Tottenham Players Might Have Got “Fed Up” of Mauricio Pochettino

Roy Keane reckons one of the reasons why the Tottenham players have not been able to raise the level of their performance recently is because they might have got “fed up” of the same boss.

Keane, who was a pundit in the Sky Sports studio on Matchday 10 of the Premier League 2019-20, was sharing his views after Tottenham suffered their 4th league defeat of the season to slip down to no. 11 in the standings.

“He (Pochettino) has been there five or six years now. Maybe players do get fed up of listening to a certain manager.”, Keane said.

Keane clarified his point by insisting that Mauricio Pochettino is a wonderful manager in his opinion, but at times when the same man is in charge of the team for a number of years and you don’t win anything despite going close, it sort of starts demotivating you as a player.

Pochettino took charge of the Spurs in 2014. The Spurs, since then, have often finished in top 4 in the Premier League standings, have played the Champions League, have even reached the final of the Champions League, but the glory has somehow eluded them despite the consistency.

On recent form, Tottenham were not the favourites to win at the Anfield against the table toppers Liverpool anyway, but with Harry Kane finding the back of the net in the very first minute of the game, the visiting fans might have started anticipating an unexpected result.

However, it wasn’t to be as the Reds dominated from there on and the game ended with an outcome of 2-1 in the favour of Liverpool.

It’s astonishing that Liverpool and Tottenham were the two finalists of the Champions League last season and there didn’t seem to be a big gulf between the two sides in terms of quality.

But, only in a space of few months, they are at different levels now. While, Liverpool are running away with the show, Tottenham’s Premier League title hopes are ending fast.
