‘It was nice pitch to bat on’- Rohit Sharma slams critics for blaming pitch on Ahmedabad Test

India’s second pink ball Test at home ended in two days only against England in Ahmedabad  has been questioned by critics and especially the experts from outside India where they believe that the pitch was not good to bat on as it was turning vividly where batters had no clue how they have to score runs.

The reason to support this statement holds true as 17 wickets fell on the second day and the batsmen were completely flummoxed by the way the pitch behaved.

But Rohit Sharma who hit winning runs for Men in Blue against visitors has defended the pitch yet again as he stated that the batsman lacked application due to which he was unable to negate spinners.

He further added that 21 wickets which fell out of 30 went out on straight deliveries and also accepted that both teams fell apart.

“The pitch didn’t do anything, honestly speaking. Most batters got out to straighter deliveries, and as a batting unit we also made mistakes. The pitch had nothing as such, no such demons. It was a nice pitch to bat on. Once in you can score runs, as we saw. You just need to apply yourself and keep concentrating on a pitch like that,” said Sharma in the post-match press conference.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli also agreed with Rohit Sharma’s statement as the former added that despite we have won the match but the batting was quite poor on both sides.

Kohli concluded by stating that batting was not upto the mark in the recently concluded Test but our bowlers were more effective than the visitors and due to which result went in our favour.
