Rahmanullah Gurbaz Superb Inning Goes in Vain as Harare Hurricanes Beat Samp Army

Rahmanullah Gurbaz’s 62-run inning went in vain as his team Cape Town Samp Army fell prey to Harara Hurricanes in the eliminator match of the Zim Afro T10 League. Harare Hurricanes pulled off a thrilling win over Cape Town Samp Army in the eliminator game on Friday. The Samp Army failed to defend the massive target of 145 runs. Rahmanullah Gurbaz’s blistering 62 washed away as the Hurricane’s opener Robin Uthappa crushed the hope for Sampy Army with his batting storm.

Gurbaz, who was playing for Swamp Army, smashed 4 fours and 6 sixes in his knock. He put a crucial partnership for the first wicket with Bhanuka Rajapaksha (25). Sean Williams also gathered a quick 28 runs off 12 balls to guide his team to a total of 145 runs.

The Hurricanes, in reply, reached their target of 146 with nine wickets in hand and 4 balls to spare. Robin Uthappa top-scored for the Hurricanes with 88 off 36 balls, while Donovan Ferreira made 35.

The match was played at the Harare Sports Club and was a high-scoring affair. The Swamp Army scored 145-3 in their 10 overs, with Gurbaz and Sean Williams doing the damage. The Hurricanes then chased down the target with ease, with Uthappa and Ferreira leading the way.

The win was a good confidence boost for the Hurricanes. They will now be looking to go one step further and win the tournament. This win has led them to the final of the inaugural season of the Zim Afro T10 League.
