S. Meghana, the 30‑year‑old opening batter from Andhra Pradesh, confirmed her retirement from all forms of cricket on Friday, 23 October 2026. The announcement was made through an Instagram post, which was subsequently reported by a national news agency based in New Delhi.

In the post Meghana wrote, "As I announce my retirement from all formats of cricket as a player, my heart is overflowing with gratitude." She added that the field has been her second home, teaching her resilience, humility, and giving her memories and friendships that she will carry for a lifetime.

She last represented India in November 2022 and has played international cricket from 2016 to 2022, making her T20I debut against the West Indies in 2016 and her ODI debut six years later. In both formats she recorded a single fifty each.

Domestically, Meghana featured in the Women’s Premier League for Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Giants. The 2026 retention list shows that RCB released her ahead of that season, after her stint with the franchise.

She stated that she intends to dedicate her life to giving back to the sport, mentoring the next generation and serving the game. "While my cricket days come to an end, my bond with cricket will never break," she added in her note.

The decision comes after a career that saw Meghana open India's top order and contribute consistently across formats. Her retirement marks the end of a decade‑long international presence and a significant chapter for women’s cricket in India.

Future plans for Meghana are focused on coaching and development roles, though no specific appointments have been announced yet. The cricket community will watch to see how she channels her experience into nurturing upcoming talent.
