On 23 October 2026 the Board of Control for Cricket announced that former India fast bowler Parvinder Awana would take the helm of its Junior Selection Committee. The appointment was confirmed in a media advisory issued by the BCCI, which also listed the other three members of the committee.
The committee now comprises Parvinder Awana as chairperson, Krishna Das, Rakesh Patel and N. Arjun Yadav. These four have been named in the BCCI’s official announcement and are the only members publicly identified at this stage.
Awana’s playing career included stints with Delhi, India A and the Rest of India, as well as a spell in the Indian Premier League with Kings XI Punjab, now Punjab Kings. He represented India in two Twenty‑20 Internationals and played 62 first‑class matches, taking 191 wickets.
After hanging up his bowling gloves, Awana moved into coaching. He led Delhi’s U16, U19 and U23 teams and worked with India U19 and various BCCI/COE high‑performance programmes, bringing a wealth of experience to the selection panel.
Krishna Das, a former India U19 and India A player, has served as India U19 bowling coach and as bowling coach for the Uttarakhand Ranji Trophy side. Rakesh Patel, who played for Gujarat, Baroda and India A and featured in the Duleep, Deodhar and Irani Trophies, has coached Baroda and Gujarat at U19, U23 and senior levels, most recently heading Baroda U23 in 2025‑26.
N. Arjun Yadav, a former Hyderabad cricketer, has taken on coaching roles with the Hyderabad senior and U23 teams and has been a BCCI match referee since 2022. His experience adds a regulatory perspective to the committee’s work.
The BCCI has stated that a fifth member will be appointed soon, though no specific date has been provided. The committee is newly formed and will be responsible for selecting junior talent across the country.
