Leo Carter smashed six sixes in an over during Super Smash game

It was an amazing display of hitting by Leo Carter who smashed six sixes in an over Super Smash game for Canterbury Kings against Northern Districts played at Hagley Oval, Christchurch on Sunday.

Northern Districts captain Dean Bowline won the toss and decided to bat first. Anton Devivch was dismissed cheaply for just 7. Districts captain Bowline and Tim Seifert took on Canterbury Kings bowlers with aggressive hitting. Seifert was super impressive with big hits which made life tough for the opposition bowlers. The wicket-keeper batsman for Northern Knights, Seifert reached his fifty off 18 balls. Both Seifert and Bowline added 119 runs for the 2nd wicket.

Seifert and Bowline were dismissed in quick succession. Brett Hampton 22 off 12 balls and Daryl Flynn 27 off 20 balls helped Northern Districts post a massive total of 219 for 7 in 20 overs. Ellis and McConhie took 2 wickets each for Canterbury Kings.

Chasing the target of 220 runs to win, Jack Boyle and CJ Bowes provided a flying start for Canterbury Kings taking advantage of the power play overs. Randell made the breakthrough getting the wicket of Boyle for 23. Boyle and Bowes added 64 runs in just 5.4 overs.

After the power play overs, Northern Districts stem the flow of runs and picked 2 wickets. With 64 runs required off last 5 overs, Leo Carter smashed Anton Devivch for six sixes in an over which put the run rate under control. Carter was simply destructive and made Canterbury Kings win the match by 7 wickets with 7 balls to spare. He remained not out on 70 off 29 balls.

Carter became the 7th cricketer to hit six sixes in an over both international and domestic. The other six batsmen are Gary Sobers, Ravi Shastri, Yuvraj Singh, Herschelle Gibbs, Worcestershire Ross Whitley, and Afghanistan Hazratullah Zazai. He became the 4th cricketer to hit six sixes in an over in T20 cricket across both international and domestic levels.
